Microsoft. Famous iconic brand

Microsoft is not just a famous iconic brand. Microsoft is a real monster in the software market. After all, everyone who has used a computer at least once has also used Microsoft products. Because any computer is necessarily equipped with software from Microsoft. These are MS-DOS, Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook, MSN programs and so on and so forth, without which not a single user can do today.

Microsoft. Iconic brand

And in terms of popularity, the Microsoft brand is second only to the cult brand Coca-Cola. And in the years when computerization was in full swing, maybe even better known.

However, despite the popularity of the brand, Microsoft is at the same time one of the most disliked (even despised) brands by people. Maybe due to its popularity and monopoly, maybe because Microsoft's programs have too many flaws (bugs and problems), or maybe this is due to the personality of Bill Gates, one of the founders of Microsoft (this is a long story that requires a separate article), or because professional computer scientists (programmers, hackers, network administrators, and others) created a kind of negative aura around the Microsoft brand (because, because of Microsoft software, it became easy to use a computer and immediately thousands of non-professionals quickly "computerized"). Maybe even all of the above reasons together and influenced the negative in relation to Microsoft.

And yet, whether people love Microsoft or hate it, everyone uses the company's software products and will continue to use it for a very long time (until a better replacement is found, which so far has not happened).

The history of the formation of the Microsoft brand deserves special attention. Indeed, initially, when Microsoft first appeared, leading computer manufacturers, such as, for example, IBM and Apple, did not attach any importance to it. After all, Microsoft products could not be touched, they existed only virtually, while the computers themselves were quite material.

IBM, for example, did not bother themselves much and entrusted all the software to Microsoft, not paying much attention to the fact that Microsoft issued all the rights to their own products to themselves, and Apple produced the software for their computers themselves (but it only worked on Apple computers).

Moreover, Microsoft software did not stand out with any special positive qualities (the same programs from Apple were much better), but Microsoft acted smartly in distributing their products to everyone, which eventually made them universal. That's the whole secret of the success of the Microsoft brand.

Now Microsoft is not just software for computers, not just a cult brand, it is a kind of reflex, an acquired instinct (Microsoft even began to sell their "security guarantee" for third-party products, and it really worked, because people already learned to trust company, and Microsoft made good money on it, although Microsoft software has never been distinguished by the quality of security, rather the opposite).

In general, today Microsoft is an invariable attribute of most computers and most users. Accordingly, if a product is needed, then the brand is popular. And it doesn't even matter what quality Microsoft branded products have, because there is no analogue (in terms of fame) for them, and apparently, it will not appear soon. However, we live in an amazing time, and what is happening today may change dramatically tomorrow. However, be that as it may, the iconic brand of Microsoft software will remain in the history of mankind forever.
