Rolex. Famous iconic brand

The Rolex brand has become a real cult in the watch industry. If you ask the average person anywhere in the world what is the most famous watch, the answer is almost always the same - "Rolex!".

Rolex watches are first of all high quality. Secondly, for some time the brand has become the personification of material well-being. Thirdly, Rolex is the most famous brand among all watch manufacturers.

How did Rolex manage to achieve such phenomenal success?

At the beginning of the 20th century, a certain resident of Bavaria, Hans Wilsdorf, founded his own company, which started producing wristwatches. By the way, the name "Rolex" was chosen from two very practical considerations - this short sonorous word is quickly remembered, and, importantly, it is enough just to place it on the watch dial.

So, first of all, Wilsdorf sent his branded watch to the Swiss observatory, which confirmed the high quality of Rolex with a quality certificate (Rolex was the first to receive such a certificate).

Well, the real success of Wilsdorf was, oddly enough, the First World War. It was the military people who began to actively buy wristwatches (whereas most people of that time used pocket watches) - in the conditions of hostilities, wristwatches turned out to be much more convenient than pocket watches.

In addition, Wilsdorf very competently approached the advertising of his own product. Firstly, he talked about Rolex watches wherever he could - he even managed to give a Rolex to sportswoman Mercedes Gleitze before she was about to swim across the English Channel, which served Wilsdorf as a good advertisement, costing only one copy of the watch.

Secondly, Wilsdorf constantly improved the branded product, making watches even more convenient to use - this is how Rolex was the first to acquire a special mechanism that did not require manual winding. And Rolex became the first wrist watch in the world to have a date indicator. And Rolex was the first to be waterproof and the first to have dual time indicators (for different time zones).

This is how Rolex branded watches became famous.

And soon Rolex also became exclusive, acquired a special status, which people began to firmly associate with prestige, wealth, and material wealth. First of all, the high quality of the watch itself is "guilty" of this. In addition, the company itself began to actively fight with watch retailers, creating such conditions that it would be unprofitable for them to sell branded Rolex watches. This unusual marketing ploy surprisingly raised the status of the Rolex brand, making them an exclusive product that cannot be purchased everywhere.

So now it is Rolex that is the standard of quality and prestige, although there are many watch manufacturers in the world. The Rolex brand has established itself so highly that even selling used Rolex watches is not a problem, there will always be a buyer for them - after all, Rolex is a recognized guarantor of quality (and by the way, Rolex still produces its branded watches by hand, carefully monitoring product quality). And it is clear why, if we talk about the quality and popularity of watches, then Rolex comes to mind first of all.
