Goodyear. Famous iconic brand
The story of the iconic Goodyear brand is one of amazing success. And, almost random success.
However, even more surprisingly, Charles Goodyear himself (after whom the brand is named) was a terribly unlucky man. His merits include only the success of one invention - the vulcanization process (by the way, vulcanization is used not only in the manufacture of tires, but also in the manufacture of rubber shoes and clothing). But this ingenious invention did not help Gudear in any way - he lived all his life in poverty, feeding his family only with fish caught by himself, and died a debtor.
But Frank Seibelling was very lucky. It was he (40 years later) who founded the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, which created the Goodyear brand and made it world famous.
It is not known why Seibelling decided to use the Goodyear name, but with his light hand, the company began to prosper, earning recognition even from such a large automobile company as Ford. And the bad luck of Charles Goodear did not affect the company named after him.
The company, as already mentioned, grew and prospered to the delight of the founder. However, in the 1980s, Goodyear had a serious competitor - Firestone, which was bought by a Japanese tire company. And it is not known what would have happened to Goodyear, if not for one happy (for Goodyear) accident - when Firestone went bankrupt in 1999 due to a series of low-quality tires, due to which traffic accidents increased.
It was then that Goodyear rose to the top spot, becoming the leader in tire manufacturing. Goodyear's high quality ultimately proved that they, and they alone, deserved to be number one.
Now the Goodyear brand positions itself as "number one in the tire market". And for a long time of existence, people have become accustomed to trusting this brand, so oblivion of the Goodyear brand does not threaten soon.
